AltaLink will use a helicopter to perform an aerial patrol of its electrical transmission facilities in Central Alberta starting next week.

From Monday, May 13 to Friday, May 17, AltaLink will conduct its annual patrol to provide the utilities company with a visual inspection of its transmission lines and surrounding vegetation to help maintain the reliability of the grid through proactive maintenance.

A helicopter may be seen in Red Deer, Red Deer County, Lacombe, Rocky Mountain House, Sundre and elsewhere in the province.

"In advance, AltaLink apologizes for any disturbance or inconvenience to residents in the vicinity of the power lines that will be patrolled," AltaLink said in a meida release.

"When conducting aerial surveys, AltaLink is mindful to minimize disruption to residences, area users, livestock and wildlife. Thank you for your patience and understanding."
