The Red Deer Regional Health Foundation is providing educational scholarships totaling $81,500 in 2024, thanks to the contributions of donors.

The scholarship recipients are students enrolled in various healthcare programs, including cardiology, respiratory health medicine, hospice palliative care, nursing and pediatrics.

These scholarships help ensure that excellent healthcare professionals are available to provide for the future needs of Central Albertans, the foundation said in a media release on Thursday.

“The foundation is grateful for the donors committed to enhancing care for Central Albertans and to those who choose to study in the healthcare field,” said Manon Therriault, foundation CEO.

“This funding for healthcare students would not be possible without the community-minded donors who founded these scholarships. Their generosity ensures that we can assist those starting or continuing their careers in healthcare, and that we can attract and retain exceptional healthcare professionals.”

Scholarships were awarded to Alexandra Mitra, Avery Olafson, Britnee Baker, Britny Martens, Christina McMillin, Devin Woodland, Hannah Corrigan, Jennifer Huseby, Jessica Muchiri, Jessica Nelson, Julianna Panteluk, Katie Kralka, Kelsey Johnson, Ksenia Strickland, Kya Knight, Lexie Saforo, Nikki Hort, Sage Bugutsky, Samantha Hombert, Thalia Neufeld, Tyler Unreiner, Victoria Johns and Zoe Brabbins.
