A well-earned retirement is on the horizon for Innisfail resident Joan White, after serving the community for more than 30 years with her stationery store, Baiers Stationery.
Bob White opened the small office supply shop, better known as Baiers Stationery, in 1990, with Joan joining him in 1996.
Baiers Stationery has provided supplies for schools and businesses, in the community all around Innisfail for the past 33 years.
“There is a lot we’d like to do but we don’t have any ‘official’ plans for what’s next,” Joan says. “We’re excited to retire but I think Chieftan, the German shepherd and head of security, will miss his daily car rides to the store.”
Ensuring a continuation of services, Red Deer’s Prairie Office Plus, a Canadian-owned company, have purchased Baiers Stationery and will serve the community through their sales representative, Aliesha Shuparsky, and their online store.
“We want to acknowledge Joan, her staff and Chieftan for their dedicated work serving the community of Innisfail,” says Tom Mansell, Branch Manager at Prairie Office Plus. “We know their services will be missed in the community but we’re also excited to give them the opportunity to fully embrace their well-earned retirement.”
Time for change
Baiers Stationery will officially close on Sept. 1, with Prairie Office Plus stepping in to offer delivery from their warehouse in Red Deer instead.
“We want to say thank you to our loyal Innisfail community for all their support over the years,” Joan says. “We have loved serving our community for the past 33 years but it’s time for our next adventure.”

For the Innisfail community in particular, our delivery days will be on Tuesdays and Fridays.”
