Red Deer RCMP used a drone to help nab a robbery suspect early Saturday.

Police said they got a 911 call about 12:55 a.m. of a robbery in progress at a business in the Anders Park East area.

It is alleged that a suspect went into the business armed with a hammer and demanded cash from staff.

General duty officers, Police Dog Services, the Downtown Patrol Unit and officers with the Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems unit combed the area and a suspect was arrested bear the scene without incident.

A 30-year-old Red Deer man has been charged with robbery. He was released from custody and is due in Red Deer Court of Justice on July 29.
