A Red Deer father is facing charges after his young child was badly injured.
Red Deer RCMP said on Tuesday that police were notified by Child and Family Services that a child was in hospital with serious injuries.
"After additional investigation and consultation, it was determined that the injuries were consistent with an assault," said RCMP.
Police arrested the father of the child on June 27 and charged him with aggravated assault, failing to provide the necessities of life and criminal negligence causing bodily harm.
The father, 27, has been released from custody on numerous conditions. The name of the accused is not being released to protect the identity of the victim.
