Suspect facing charges in Red Deer transit bus stabbing

A 32-year-old suspect is facing charges in connection with the stabbing of a Red Deer transit bus passenger on Thursday evening.

Red Deer RCMP said they responded to a 911 call of a stabbing on a city bus in Clearview on Thursday evening.

Police said a bus passenger stabbed another while leaving the bus and then fled on foot.

\The victim was taken to hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

RCMP, including members of Police Dog Services and the Downtown Patrol Unit, swarmed the area and quickly located and arrested a suspect.

RCMP thanked the public for their assistance and quick actions prior to the arrival of first responders.

"The co-operation of citizens played a crucial role in managing the situation," said police.

Charges are pending against a 32-year-old Red Deer man.
