36-year-old Sundre man charged with second-degree murder

A 36-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder after another man was shot and killed near Sundre last week.

On Friday, Jan. 25, Sundre RCMP was called to a residence northwest of the town in Mountain View County, where a man was reportedly shot.

The victim, who has since been identified as 36-year-old Justin Goodhand, was pronounced dead at a hospital shortly after. An autopsy completed on Saturday determined the manner of death was homicide, RCMP said in a media release.

The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit has charged a 36-year-old Sundre man with second-degree murder. He remains in custody and is set to appear in Didsbury Provincial Court on Monday.

No other suspects are being sought.
