A newly recruited family physician has joined The Branch Medical Clinic to provide care to Red Deer and area residents.

Dr. Jude Omeh, who received his medical training in Nigeria and South Africa, also works as a hospitalist at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre.

“This is wonderful news for patients in both Red Deer and Central Alberta. Dr. Omeh is a welcome addition to Red Deer, and he is sure to be a great asset to our community," said Minister of Health Adriana LaGrange, who is also the MLA for Red Deer-North, in a statement.

The Branch Medical Clinic, located at 7101 50 Ave., now has three physicians serving the community.

“Red Deer has friendly people with a lovely atmosphere,” said Dr. Omeh, who enjoys watching football and relaxing with his family in his leisure time.

Alberta Health Services said it continues to recruit for physicians across the Central Zone to meet community needs.

AHS has physician resource planners who are dedicated to identifying and pursuing international and domestic physician recruitment opportunities. They work closely with community partners and organizations, such as the Rural Health Professions Action Plan, and independent physician recruitment and retention committees.

“Red Deer is the third largest city in the best province in Canada. It is good to see medical professionals coming to Red Deer to serve families and individuals in our wonderful community," said Red Deer-South MLA Jason Stephan.
