Red Deer repairs to cause multiple road closures

Expect detours in certain areas of the city in early July

The City of Red Deer has announced numerous road closures.

There will be a series of road closures in early July due to catch basin repair work, the city announced on Friday.

  • Tuesday, July 2 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Gilbert Crescent north of Glendale Boulevard will be closed.
  • Wednesday, July 3 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Galbraith Street between Taylor Drive and Gray Drive will be closed.
  • Thursday, July 4 from 7 a.m. to Friday, July 5 at 7 p.m., Galbraith Street east of Taylor Drive will be closed and there will be traffic disruption northbound on Taylor Drive west of Galbraith Street.
  • Tuesday, July 9 from 7 a.m. to Thursday, July 11 at 7 p.m., Gray Drive west of 59 Avenue will be closed.

Additionally, crews will replace a water main at the Mitchell Avenue and Munro Crescent intersection on July 3 from 6 a.m. to July 19 at 5 p.m. A detour will be available via Maxwell Avenue and McIntosh Avenue.

Finally, infrastructure repair work will cause the closure of the 63 Street and Riverview Avenue intersection from 6 a.m. on July 8 to 6 p.m. on July 12. Drivers should expect delays or find an alternate route during that time period.

Drivers are reminded to slow down when approaching or driving in construction areas and obey all signs.
