Yukon-based The Lucky Ones, described as one of Canada's finest bluegrass bands, will be making a stop in Red Deer next week.

The group will perform on Wednesday, July 17, at The Velvet Olive. The northern musicians are on a tour in support of their third and latest EP, A Nickel For The Fiddler.

The five band members grew up listening to the country music of their parents and grandparents. Their resulting unique brand of country-roots music mixes traditional arrangements with a contemporary flair. It's "reminiscent of old-time dances in hotel taverns, barrooms, barns, kitchens and saloons."

The UK blog The Rocking Magpie sums it up by saying: "These guys can certainly pick... all the energy of Old Crow Medicine Show."

For more information about the show, please contact the venue.
