Cajun cowgirl Crystal Plamondon will perform as a trio this week in Red Deer.

The bilingual singer/songwriter from Northern Alberta will share her heart-warming ballads, rockin’ country, roots and Cajun/zydeco tunes on Saturday, June 3 at the Elks Lodge, 6315 Horn St.

Plamondon, who had two No. 1 hits in France and multiple awards, including an ARIA from the Alberta Recording Industry Association, has a long track record of delivering passionate music that covers a wide emotional range.

Whether she’s rocking to her own compositions or covering classic jazz and Edith Piaf, Plamondon aims to connect with — and electrify — her audiences.

Her music, recorded on seven CDs, and has been heard on episodes of Heartland and other shows — as well as played on various Canada Days, the Calgary Stampede, and for prime ministers, premiers, even royalty.

For the Red Deer show, Plamondon will be performing with her trio bandmates, guitarist Gord Matthews, who has played with k.d. lang and Ian Tyson, and fiddler player Braden Gates, who has opened for Blue Rodeo. High River musician Herky Cutler will open this show

More information about this 8 p.m. concert, presented by the Central Music Festival Society, is available at centralmusicfest.com.
