Football Alberta releases high school rankings ahead of season

Football Alberta released their high school football rankings for week one ahead of the upcoming season.

The rankings feature teams from all 12-a-side and 6-a-side Tier’s in football, some of which are from central Alberta.

The Hunting Hills Lightning were ranked eighth at the Tier II level after a few exhibition games.

The Stettler Wildcats are currently ranked third in the Tier III level followed by the Sylvan Lake Lakers at fourth.

On the 6-a-side, Rimbey was placed among five teams in the province.

The high school football season in central Alberta kicks off a week from Thursday. The Stettler Wildcats head to Sylvan Lake to take on the Lakers on Sept. 14 at 4:30 p.m.

Meanwhile, on Friday, Sept. 15 the Notre Dame Cougars will face the Lacombe Rams at 5 p.m. followed by a matchup between the Lindsay Thurber Raiders and Hunting Hills Lightning at 7 p.m.
